"Dave will be jealous!"

The conversation between my mother and me today:

Me:  You should come by and see the house this afternoon.
Mom:  Okay, are you pleased with everything they've done?
Me:  Oh yes, I love Jeremy!
Mom:  Dave will be jealous!

But, I think Dave is okay with this one...we are both amazed at the work of Jeremy Knisley.  He is such a skilled framer and has such a creative eye.  We couldn't be more pleased with his work!  He has been such a fantastic guy to have on job site and his crew has worked unbelievably hard in these extreme temperatures.  I'm going to miss "Jeremy and the boys!"
My most favorite room in the house:  The Keeping Room

We really like the way the wall slant worked out in Keslynne's room!

and yet more attic space...

The boys even built David a ladder to climb to above the 3rd level...just in case he didn't have enough storage space!

My smart husband rigged up some redneck party lights to work on the house after dark.  I hope we can keep them to have a hoop-la when the house is finished!

It is kind of sad knowing Jeremy is finished with the house.  He'll return when the doors and windows arrive.  We've enjoyed getting to know him over these past 9 weeks.  If anyone is looking for the best framer in Spartanburg, we have his number!

Raise the Roof!

The roof has been raised and we're on to the next step!  We're still working on some window placements and sizes, lighting designs, cabinet designs, and layout for the mudroom.  Our plumber started his work on the interior this morning.  We met today with my Uncle who will be building our cabinetry.David is asleep as I'm typing this...he just returned last night from a 22-day business trip to Shantou, China.  The 12-hour time difference is getting the best of him!  We went to register Keslynne for 2nd grade today and she looks forward to FINISHING the year in her new house!
These pictures were taken Wednesday, August 11:

I was hanging out the kitchen window taking this picture.  I will eventually get to stand on a deck here for pictures!

Special post to China!

Dear Cryovac,
How I loathe you right now!  While I appreciate you employing my husband, and making sure he is paid for his service to you twice a month, could you please let him come home?  These 13 days he's been gone have been plenty for me!  We still have 9 to go before he comes back home to be the "boss" of 544.  I am doing my vice-boss duties such as:  checking on our framing boys, making trips to the bank, organizing and marking lumber bills, and the like, but I'm ready to relinquish my duties.  I would appreciate it if you could send him back west asap!
                              Respectly Yours,
       The ready-for-my-husband-to-return-home Wife

I snapped some pictures of the beginning of the roof sheeting this afternoon for all the peoples of the far east to see...

We've had lots of rain these last few days!  Kessie had fun splashing in the basement!

Kessie still has the best view out her bedroom window!

It's a long way down...
